In aviation, the term Silent Review is sometimes used to describe the minutes right before take off and landing, where your awareness and instincts are highly alert towards your surroundings in case of an emergency where evacuation is needed.

Similar to this state of mind, but on a much more unconscious level, we constantly process our situation and negotiate between inner and outer territory and boundaries in everyday life.

Being in a new city, location, or social structure activates this feeling even more.

The group of artists in the exhibition will all display works that offer the viewer a dimension to the idea of being in flux in terms of geography, language or culture.

 

전시 제목인 <Silent Review>는 비행기가 이륙하고 착륙하기 직전의 시간을 뜻하는 항공 용어로, 대피가 필요한 비상 상황에서 의식과 본능이 곤두선 상태를 의미한다.

이러한 정신 상태와 유사하지만 훨씬 더 무의식적으로, 우리는 일상 생활 속에서 끊임없이 우리가 처한 상황을 발전시켜나고 내적/외적 영역과 경계 사이를 넘나든다.

새로운 도시, 장소 혹은 사회적 구조에 놓인다는 것은 이러한 기분을 더욱 활성화시킨다.

이 전시의 작가들은 관람자를 지리학, 언어 혹은 문화적으로 불안정한 상태에 놓이게 하는 작품들을 선보일 것이다.
